WHAT WE DON'T HAVE
Handicapped-accessible rooms. Telephones in the rooms (though we do have wi-fi Internet access). Cable/satellite TV. (My standard line is, "I have a lake; you have decent TV. If you came here to watch TV, you made a serious mistake." We get whatever TV comes through the airwaves, which is usually lousy. I do have VCRs that I rent -- and a 200 movie private collection from which you can borrow -- for rainy days when the kids won't shut up or you're just wanting to hang around the room . You can also bring your own.) Party animals --only 2 sets of those in the past 10 years. We cater more to the people-with-kids/grandkids crowd, and party animals feel distinctly out of place. Boat slips. (Those you get from the marina next door, which is easily walkable from here.) Other than that, I bill the place as "Quiet, Clean, Comfortable," and I think we do well on all of those. It's a better-than-good place for family vacations/reunions and quiet getaways for couples. It's definitely not a fishing camp, and the rooms are much better than most of the people staying here for the first time expected (or so they tell me). |
