Pea Ridge Military Park

A 4300 acre site administered by the National Park Service, which notes that it "represents what might be the most well preserved Civil War battlefield in the United States."

Pea Ridge was the site of a 2-day battle involving 16,000 Confederate and 10,500 Federal troops.  The Confederate defeat at Pea Ridge caused them to abandon efforts to occupy Missouri.

The park includes a visitor's center, a driving  trail with written and audio recorded materials, hiking and equestrian trails, and a picnic area.

Hours:  Open daily except Jan. 1, Thanksgiving & Christmas Days, 8a-5p (tour road closes at 4:30p.m.)

From Lazy Eagle Resort:  Turn right out of driveway onto MO 86.  Left at Hwy. F to Roaring River State Park.  Left at MO 112 to Seligman.  Left at MO 37 (becomes AR 37) to Gateway, AR.  Right on US 62 West for 7 miles.  Park is on right side of road.
